Maus Taster Courses: Finally Up and running

Only 7 months later than planned, we were excited to restart our calendar of upholstery, craft, and design workshops this past weekend at Wellington Studios- a bigger, socially distanced, sanitised, and COVID-safe space. Our first ‘An Introduction to Upholstery’ session was a huge success and so we thought we would share some of the pictures from Saturday’s workshop, along with some information about what you can expect from our taster course programme.

What are the taster courses?

At Maus, we offer a full programme of upholstery and craft courses, workshops and 1-2-1 tutorials. Our maus taster courses are shorter workshops giving an introduction to the tools, materials, and skills required to complete home crafting projects to a professional standard.

What is involved?

You will complete a small project/exercise in a way that gives you a general overview of the particular skill or application. Our taster courses last around 2 hours, allowing plenty of time for questions and support along the way, as well as an opportunity to meet other like-minded makers in a COVID-safe environment. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is needed! If you have any special requirements don't hesitate to contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate.

What can I do once I’ve done the course?

We hope our taster courses inspire you to transform your home. With a programme of varied crafting ideas and tuition we hope that you are interested in learning more. In a society where overconsumption is a constant threat to our limited resources, we hope to inspire you in a move away from mass produced furniture and accessories, and instead learn about the processes required in manufacturing these products for yourself. Once you’ve completed your course we hope you take to any DIY projects you might have at home (and then come back for more!)

We also offer you various discounts and offers on tools and materials after completing a taster course. We hope to create a community of makers where everyone feels welcome and supported (#teammaus), and this is just our way of making it that little bit easier. Details of discounts and offers will be made available to you by the course tutor after you have completed your taster course.
