An Introduction to Upholstery

We run 1x spring and 1x autumn 'Introduction to Upholstery' course which is an opportunity for students to get to grips with the basic tools, materials, and skills required in upholstery practice. The sessions run 2.5 hours and all tools and materials are provided. They are a great way to learn the basics of upholstery in a fun and social setting, and you will leave with the knowledge to complete simple upholstery projects at home as well as your very own mini footstool. No previous experience is required.

An Introduction to Traditional Upholstery

Once you have completed our 'Introduction to Upholstery' course you may choose to continue your upholstery study on our 'Introduction to Traditional Upholstery' course. This course is a great opportunity to gain more upholstery practice and knowledge, this time in a one-to-one or small group setting. The course is split into 3x 4 hour sessions, where students complete a simple drop-in dining chair pad using traditional methods. You will be introduced to the relevant tools and materials for use in traditional upholstery as well as adding loads more skills and applications to your upholstery practice.

 Upholstery: bespoke tuition

Once you have completed both our introduction courses you are ready to begin your own bespoke tuition. You will work with our tutor Rob to curate suitable projects, and work on them in a series of 3 hour sessions. We store your work here at maus hq in between and you'll have access to all our tools and workshop during your sessions. Our sessions run on Wednesday evenings, and Saturday mornings and the pace in which you complete your projects is completely up to you. This course is designed to give students the opportunity to practice upholstery and gain knowledge to a professional standard.
