Changing our relationship with furniture: the boofie story so far...

Updated: Nov 2, 2019

For the past two years we've been working towards bringing you an ethical, hand-made product that looks, feels, and performs like a real luxury furnishing. We feel too often so called 'luxury' products are mass produced in overseas factories where a combination of cheap labour, and the creation and use of materials that harm our environment mean that large furniture companies can increase their profit margins, whilst selling you a vastly inferior product.

Our mission statement will ALWAYS be to provide luxury quality, hand-crafted-design using sustainable materials that are kinder to our environment. Use boofie as a beanbag, pouffé, scatter cushion, or side table, but we're sure you'll find your own use, and we can't wait to see them in your home! We have tried to make a product that is versatile, that doesn't get in the way, and that looks great in whatever setting being used for whatever function!

From the outer woollen sack to our signature recycled leather "pulls" we're on a journey to reduce our carbon footprint and produce a 100% sustainable product- we're not far off, though! Conventional beanbags and pouffés use polyester beading by the shed-load, but that's not the case for boofie. We use dried buckwheat husks that perform in the same way but allow the consumer piece of mind by reducing their own carbon footprint and helping us reduce the amount of plastic used in our manufacturing process.

Boofie endeavours to be at the forefront of the #plasticfree movement, designing and making products that change the non-cyclical economy of furniture by embracing both minimalism (with our multi functionality) and sustainable manufacturing processes on our way to becoming a completely carbon neutral product.

We can't do it alone- join our movement! Head to www.theboofieshop.com to follow us on social media, for more information, or to buy. Join team boofie and help us change our relationship with furniture for the better.
